The Rural Retreat girls swim team and the George Wythe boys swim team both placed third in a swim meet held at the Wytheville Community Center on Friday, Jan. 4. The GW girls team placed fourth.

The girls team scores were: James River, 83; Radford, 54; Rural Retreat, 34; George Wythe, 30; Marion, 26; Tazewell, 21; Chilhowie, 19; Glenvar, 14; William Fleming, 13.

The boys team scores were: Marion, 99; Radford, 57; George Wythe, 41; James River, 34; Glenvar, 33; William Fleming, 24.

Walker Stephens of GW placed fourth in the boys 200-yard freestyle.

In the girls 200-yard freestyle, Mackenzie Kincer of GW placed first, Breanne Coffey of RR was second and Payton Yates of GW was ninth.

Devin Wolfe of GW placed fifth in the boys 200-yard individual medley (IM).

Cassidy Bear of RR placed second in the girls 200-yard IM.

In the boys 50-yard freestyle, Davis Little of GW placed fifth and Andrew Walters of GW placed 10th.

In the girls 50-yard freestyle, Shannon Coffey of RR was first, Elise Harrison of GW was eighth and Abbie Davis of GW was 10th.

Devin Wolfe of GW placed fifth in the boys 100-yard butterfly.

In the girls 100-yard butterfly, Shannon Coffey of RR was second.

In the boys 100-yard freestyle, Andrew Walter of GW was fourth.

In the girls 100-yard freestyle, Breanne Coffey of RR was first and Abbie Davis of GW was 11th.

In the boys 200-yard freestyle relay, George Wythe was first (no names were available).

In the girls 200-yard freestyle relay, George Wythe was fourth (no names were available).

Davis Little of GW placed second in the 100-yard backstroke.

In the girls 100-yard backstroke, Mackenzie Kincer of GW was second and Elise Harrison of GW was fifth.
