Northwood sophomore point guard Luke Carter and Patrick Henry freshman center Breanna Yarber are the Hogoheegee District basketball players of the year.

Carter received the boys’ award, and Chilhowie’s Matt Snodgrass is the boys’ coach of the year. PH had the girls’ player of the year, Yarber, and coach of the year, Tommy Thomas.

The boys have a nine-player first team and an eight-player second team. Joining Carter on the first team for Northwood are senior Chance Moore and sophomore Alex Tuell. Chilhowie’s players on the first team are juniors Zack Cale, Dylan Catron and Jake Kegley. Representing PH on the first team is junior Josh Presley.

The second-team boys include Chilhowie’s Raul Ramirez and Jacob Thompson; Northwood’s Spencer Carter; and PH’s Zach Brown, Sam Fullen and Drew Miller.

The girls have eight-player first and second teams. Teammates joining Yarber on the first unit are senior Savannah Williams and sophomore Kaycee Deskins. Senior Taylor Gilbert and junior Leah Kestner represent Chilhowie on the first team, and senior Emily Keith is a first-team pick for Northwood.

Among those on the second team are Chilhowie’s Jenna Gollehon and Molly Rhudy; Northwood’s JoJo Broyles; and PH’s Carter Call, Fallyn Daniels and Natalie Strait.

The boys’ honorable mentions include Chilhowie’s Jason Amaro and Alex Peake, Northwood’s Michael Frye and Jacob Trivitt, and PH’s Andrew Belcher and Jake Lynch. The girls’ honorable mentions include Chilhowie’s Caitlin Pierce and Rachael Williams, Northwood’s Bailey Frye, and PH’s Mackenzie Turner.
