Patrick Henry senior Kirsten Woosley and Marion sophomore Bre Coley had third-place finishes at the state swimming meet for Class 2 and Class 1 schools.
Woosley was third in the 100-yard breaststroke and Coley third in the 500 freestyle at the meet in Richmond on Thursday, Feb. 15. Woosley’s time was 1:13.36, and Coley’s was 5:36.9.
Junior Alex Wright had a couple of seventh-place finishes for the Patrick Henry boys, who wound up seventh in their team standings. Wright’s sevenths came in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.
With a seventh and an eighth for the PH boys was senior Joe Hainsworth. He placed seventh in the 500 free and eighth in the 200 individual medley.
Junior Tate McDowell had two eighth-place finishes for Marion’s boys, who were 11th in their team standings. His eighths were in the 200 free and 100 fly.
Both of Marion’s 400 free relay teams were in the top eight. The boys’ squad of McDowell, seniors Corbin Farmer and Duncan Martin, and junior Kamdan Garrison placed seventh. The girls’ squad of senior Faith Hannula, freshman Kennedy Williams, junior Anna Graham and Coley placed eighth.
In the girls’ team standings, Marion was ninth and PH 11th.
George Mason’s boys and Maggie Walker’s girls were the team champions.
