E&H will launch track earlier than expected

Emory & Henry announced Thursday that its new track and field program will begin earlier than originally planned.

Instead of beginning in 2019, both the men and women will compete as varsity athletes in three meets this spring starting with the Lynchburg Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational on March 23-24.

The Wasps will compete as an NCAA Division III independent before joining the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in 2019.

Emory & Henry last fielded a track team in 1994.
