Farms can be dangerous places and without the proper equipment, tasks can be very risky indeed. This is why Virginia Cooperative Extension is happy to offer a new grant program to help farms and the people who live and work on them to be safer.

Often when we think about putting time into proper operation, maintenance and safety of tools, our thoughts turn to the expensive power tools at our disposal. While it certainly makes sense to take care of and take care with our powered friends, our hand tools need the same respect and care for optimal performance.

It is hard to believe that graduation season has already completed its swing through another year.  Smyth County has graduated another crop of new people and I use the word “crop” very deliberately because that is exactly what these young men and women are… a crop.
