I attended the governor’s roundtable on gun violence in Abingdon last week, where practically everyone there opposed Gov. Northam’s new gun control agenda.

As I said during my remarks, Northam’s anti-Second Amendment agenda wasn’t about “guns,” it was about “control,” as in control of more and more of our lives by Big Government bureaucrats that seem to care more about punishing law-abiding citizens than they do about punishing criminals.

Northam apparently is practicing the philosophy Rahm Emanuel made famous of “never letting a tragedy go to waste” to promote their liberal agenda.

I am thankful that our State Sen. Ben Chafin, R-Lebanon, was on-hand to oppose Northam’s anti-gun agenda

Thank you Sen. Chafin for standing strong for our Second Amendment rights!

“I will oppose every single thing you’ve got,” Chafin said. “This is designed as a political stunt. It’s designed to change the dialogue, the conversation that’s been coming out of Richmond.”

Senator Chafin’s was right when he said,“There is nothing in Virginia Beach, nothing in our law, nothing in our toolbox, nothing you’re offering now that would have saved those people in Virginia Beach.”

Thank goodness that Senator Chafin is a strong proponent of our constitutional rights and fights for Southwest Virginia in the Senate of Virginia.
