Alfred Dewey Aker Sr., 67, of Wytheville, Va., the Piney Community, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014. He was born July 30, 1946, in Wythe County, the son of the late Thomas Jackson Aker and Margie Dalton Aker. He was a United States Army Veteran, a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and a member of "Lambs of God" singers. He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Selena Dawn Aker and Will Morgan of Wytheville, and Bambi Lucia Aker of San Angelo, Texas; two sons, Alfred Dewey Aker Jr. of Wytheville, and William Ericson Aker of San Angelo, Texas; grandchildren, Jacob William Aker, Jaxx Morgan, and Parker Morgan; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Rosie Aker of Wytheville; nieces , Brook Folden and Tracy Stanley; and special aunt, Viola Aker. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where the Reverend Joe Carrico and the Reverend Bob Lewis officiated. Interment followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family receive friends Thursday, June 19, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church or at the residence at any time.
