Stuart Harloe Copenhaver, age 79, of Rural Retreat, Va., (the Blue Springs Community), passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at his home. He was born in Rural Retreat, Va., on February 19, 1939, the son of the late Charles Steele Copenhaver and Rose Steffey Copenhaver. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, JoAnn Copenhaver; daughters, Sheila Peters and husband, Michael Peters and their sons, Nicholas Peters and Christopher Peters, all of Salem, Va., Patricia Romero and husband, Hector Romero and their daughters, Rosa Romero and Vicki Romero, all of Hidalgo, Mexico; brother, Fred Copenhaver and wife, Maxine Copenhaver, of Abingdon, Va.; sisters-in-law, Shirley Crockett and husband, Eddie Crockett, of Rural Retreat, and Claudine Steffey of Pulaski, Va.; brother-in-law, Dan Patton and wife, Sandra Patton, of Chesterfield, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at the Lindsey Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bill Shoeneman officiating. Private interment followed in the Blue Springs Cemetery. The family received friends from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who prefer may make memorial donations to the Blue Springs Cemetery Fund.
