Lois Lawson Akers, age 80, of Max Meadows, Va., passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. She was born on January 7, 1939, in Wythe County, daughter of the late Robert Eugene and Hazel Wright Lawson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Elwood Akers Sr; and sisters, Peggy Stumbo, Alma Lawson Graham, and Donna Gene Good. Survivors include her children, Sheri Akers and Sean Allison, of Max Meadows, Mary Ruth Akers of Max Meadows, Donna Gail Akers and Randy Smith of Mt. Airy, N.C., Deeann Pressley and Mark of Wytheville, Kenneth Elwood Akers Jr. and Angela of Wytheville, and Roy Parnell Akers and Kala of Max Meadows; sisters, Daris Lawson of Roanoke, Va., and Linda Gail Lawson Safewright of Graham, N.C.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2019, at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brett McCleary officiating.
