Lavonne Jarvis Gibson, from Rocky Gap, Va., passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 7, 2019. Lavonne was born on January 3, 1944, in Grayson, Ky., to Haskell Jarvis and Evelyn Burchett Jarvis Conley. After her father's death, Lavonne and her siblings moved to Louisville, Ky., and lived at the Masonic Home for Widows and Orphans and an extended family known as the "ole-home kids" was formed. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dottie Brown and Phyllis Fleming; and two brothers, Franklin and Thornton "T.H." Jarvis. Lavonne is survived by three children and their spouses, Robin and Will Allison, Vinton, Va., Nancy and Chris Williams, Rocky Gap, Va., and David Gibson and Clinton Stone, Radford, Va.; three grandchildren, Sydney Williams, Rocky Gap, Va., Benjamin Allison and Ross Allison, both of Vinton, Va.; one great-grandchild, Zoe Williams, Rocky Gap, Va.; and three sisters, Kay Hoge, Bland, Va., Patty Tickle, Longwood, Fla., and Teresa Martin, Houston, Texas. The family would like to thank Medi-Home Hospice for their loving and caring staff. The relatives and friends of Lavonne are invited to attend a visitation at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, Va., on Friday, February 15, 2019, from 5 until 8 p.m. A private burial service will be held at a later date. The Gibson family is in the care of A.
