The Floyd Town Council has received authorization to advertise its sidewalk project.

The announcement was made at the Council meeting last week. Bids on the project involving Oxford Street will be due on March 5 by 2:00 p.m.

At last week’s Council meeting, Town Manager Kayla Cox also presented a report on Tour de Floyd by its organizer Paul Lacoste. Tour de Floyd, a 62-mile long bicycle ride with nearly half the distance along the Blue Ridge Parkway, is held in May.

Sponsored by the Town of Floyd, it also raises funds for the rescue squad. Normally Lacoste opens registration for the event on the first of February. This year there will be a delay. Due to the government shutdown, Lacoste has not received the needed permits.
