After as much as 20 inches of snow fell in Floyd County Sunday, residents are beginning to dig out.

Virginia Department of Transportation employees and many other contractors have been busy since the snow began falling early Sunday morning.

Several businesses are announcing they will be opening later this morning or in the afternoon.

Mail carriers are delivering mail today, but snow around mail boxes should be cleared out so carriers can get to them, said the local postmaster. Also, driveways should be cleared if you are expecting parcel delivery.

There will be no FedEx pick-ups or deliveries today for the area, including Floyd, announced one of the local drivers.
