LEBANON, Va. — A Russell County woman and a man authorities say had a romantic relationship with her have been indicted on murder charges in the shooting death of the woman’s husband.
Helen Diane Tignor, 61, and Donald Ray Clark, 56, were indicted by a Russell County grand jury on Monday in connection with the death of 66-year-old William Trigg Tignor, according to Russell County Commonwealth’s Attorney Zack Stoots.
Clark was indicted on charges of first-degree murder; conspiracy to commit first-degree murder; possession of a firearm by a violent felon; possession of ammunition by a felon; shooting in an occupied dwelling; obstruction of justice; reckless handling of a firearm; use of a firearm in commission of felony; conspiracy to use a firearm in commission of a felony; conspiracy to commit perjury; and conspiracy to bribe a witness.
Helen Tignor was indicted on charges of first-degree murder; conspiracy to commit first-degree murder; use of a firearm in commission of a felony; sale/give firearm to a felon; conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony; conspiracy to commit bribery; conspiracy to commit perjury; and perjury.
Clark was previously arrested following the Dec. 17 death of William Tignor, who died at his home from a gunshot wound.
Stoots said evidence shows that Clark and Helen Tignor had been in an ongoing relationship since 2017 and that the Tignors had been married for a long time.
Both Tignor and Clark are being held without bail at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon.
