A car hauler crashed Thursday afternoon in Interstate 81.

BRISTOL, Tenn.—A loaded car hauler overturned Thursday afternoon on Interstate 81 blocking traffic for hours.

Dmytro S. Prydiy, 35, of Hampton, Pennsylvania, was traveling in a 2016 Volvo TT car hauler southbound on 8 near the 71 mile marker when he attempted to pass vehicles, according to a report filed by the Tennessee Highway patrol. As he attempted to pass, the truck driver said another vehicle cut back in front of him.

Prydiy said swerved to avoid a crash, lost control and then ran off the left side of the roadway into the medium where it then overturned, the report states.

The truck, which was carrying 10 vehicles, came to rest in the median. Crews spent hours clearing the scene, unloading each of the vehicles from the hauler. Prydiy was not injured.
