BRISTOL, Tenn. — Police in Bristol are looking for a wanted man they say assaulted an officer Monday night on Bristol Caverns Road.

An off-duty officer spotted Attillio Gilmartin, 30, who was wanted on multiple warrants for felony evading arrest and other charges, at a convenience store. The officer contacted dispatch, which sent Bristol and Sullivan County officers to the scene, according to a news release.

As Gilmartin was getting into a vehicle, one of the responding officers, who was not identified, approached him, and a brief struggle ensued. The release says the officer was assaulted and Gilmartin fled.

Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
