PINEY FLATS, Tenn. — A Piney Flats man faces numerous charges relating to a runaway juvenile and a pursuit on Wednesday, according to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.

Wednesday morning, a girl was reported missing by her family and that she could have been with Michael Rhodes, 26, the Sheriff’s Office said in news release.

A deputy in the area of DeVault Bridge Road saw Rhodes and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Rhodes then led deputies on a pursuit that ended on state Route 75 in Blountville, the release states. During the pursuit, Rhodes’s vehicle struck a private citizen’s vehicle at the intersection of state Route 75 and Muddy Creek Road, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Rhodes has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated assault, felony reckless endangerment, reckless endangerment, sexual contact with a minor, harboring a runaway, evading arrest, driving on a revoked license, and various other traffic charges.

The girl has returned to her parents, the Sheriff’s Office said.
