Bristol, Virginia, mixed media artist Linda Puckett will open the spring exhibition at The Gallery @ Barr Photographics.

Born in Mountain City, Tennessee, Puckett moved to Bristol and Portsmouth, Virginia, with her family through childhood before returning to Bristol at the age of 30. Art came to her later in life. Puckett taught herself new techniques through YouTube videos, learning to create abstract art with acrylic paint. Later, she incorporated “dimensionality” to her work by adding stones, crystals and resin to create textured effects.

In her artist statement, Puckett says her “expressed intent [is] to make viewers happy.” Her work features bright colors and abstract landscapes, inspiring the name of her exhibit, “The Exquisite World of Color.”

A public reception and art talk will be held on Friday, April 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Gallery @ Barr Photographics, located at 152 E. Main St. in Abingdon. The exhibit will display through June 30, and all of the artwork will be available for sale. Call 276-628-1486 for more information.
