ABINGDON, Va. — Two Bristol, Tennessee, women were arrested on Friday for charges including drug possession and driving under the influence, according to a press release from the Washington County (Virginia) Sheriff’s Office.
At 11:41 p.m. Deputy Brad Lloyd observed a vehicle on Green Spring Road with two people inside driving slowly and swerving, according to the release. Lloyd then stopped the vehicle, driven by Beth Allison Haynes, 46, of Bristol, Tennessee, and conducted a field sobriety test on Haynes, which resulted in her arrest.
According to the press release, Lloyd proceeded to perform a search of the vehicle based on probable cause and found multiple glass smoking pipes containing methamphetamine and a syringe containing meth.
Lloyd then searched passenger Melissa Gail Chapman’s purse, after obtaining her consent. He found suboxone inside, according to the press release. Chapman is 42 and also of Bristol, Tennessee.
Both Haynes and Chapman are being held in the Abingdon facility of the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail.
