A power outage on Sunday was caused by a problem with a transformer that feeds electricity to customers in Floyd County, stated Teresa Hall, communications consultant with Appalachian Power.

The outage, affecting close to 3,400 customers, occurred at 7:15 a.m.

“We started restoring customers at 11:45 a.m. and got the last customers back on at 1 p.m.,” Hall said.
