Wythe County football fans will get a chance to see what two county teams are looking like right off the bat this year as Fort Chiswell kicks off its season with an Aug. 30 trip to Rural Retreat.

The Fort will get all its county rivalries out of the way early, hosting George Wythe on Sept. 6.

The Pioneers follow up with a Sept. 13 home game, playing host to an always stacked Radford squad. Fort Chiswell then takes to the road for a couple of games north. On Sept. 20, the Fort visits Floyd County and finishes up September with a Sept. 27 game against Parry McCluer.

Back at home on Oct. 4, the Pioneers take on the Auburn Eagles and then hit the road to a face a stiff Galax crew on Oct. 11. After a week off, Fort Chiswell travels to Grayson County on Oct. 25 and plays host to Graham on Nov. 1.

Fort Chiswell winds up its season at home, hosting Bland County on Nov. 8.

The Maroon fans will have to wait until the third game to catch GW at home. George Wythe kicks off its season with a road trip to Radford on Aug. 30 and follows that with a Sept. 6 stop in Fort Chiswell.

On Sept. 13, GW plays at home against Marion, and then hits the road for three more games.

After a Sept. 20 game against Carroll County, the Maroons head to Auburn on Sept. 27 and then on to Gate City on Oct. 4.

After some well-earned time off, GW is back at home, hosting Galax on Oct. 18.

The Maroons get back on the road again on Oct. 25, traveling to Bland and then, on Nov. 1, to Grayson County.

George Wythe winds up its season with a Nov. 8 showdown against Rural Retreat.

Leaving the Mountain Empire for the Hogoheegee, Rural Retreat kicks off with a pair of away games, the first against Fort Chiswell on Aug. 30 and the second against Eastern Montgomery on Sept. 6.

The Indians up at home against Grayson on Sept. 13 before hitting the road again for two games. RR takes on Galax on Sept. 20 and travel to Holston on Sept. 27.

Rural Retreat returns home on Oct. 4 to face Patrick Henry and to battle Bland on Oct. 11. On Oct. 18, the Indians travel to Chilhowie to challenge their new district mates and do the same on Oct. 25 with a trip to Northwood.

After a week off, Rural Retreat ends its regular season with a Nov. 8 trip to George Wythe.
