Ling gets hole in one

Victor Ling got a hole in one for the Floyd County High School golf team in a three team match at Blue Ridge Country Club in Galax Tuesday, September 8. It was the team’s first ace.
“That shot saved the round for me,” Ling said. Ling finished with a 44 over nine holes, as the Buffaloes shot a 180 to finish behind Carroll County’s 163 and a 177 by Grayson County.
Ling’s shot came on the Par 3, 200 yard seventh hole. His shot hit the fringe and the ball rolled into the hole.
Individual scores for the Buffaloes were Max Williams 44, Robbie Whitlock 44, Victor Ling 45, Josh Calloway 47 and Shawn Atkins 50.
Two days later the Buffaloes defeated the Cavaliers in a rematch. The Buffs finished second in a three team match at Great Oaks Country Club Thursday, September 10.
Salem won the match, shooting a 159. Floyd had 186 and Carroll County had 188.
Ryan Davis of Salem was match medalist with a 38. Andrew Harris was medalist for Floyd with a 43.

Carroll County 188: Kris Goad 49, Tyler Worrell 43, Caleb Taylor 50, Tyler Cloud 56, Halyard Burton 56, Adam Burnette 57.
The Buffaloes finished fifth in the district final standings. Giles won the Three Rivers District regular season championship and an automatic berth in the Region C tournament.
