Jayvee football team beats Glenvar

The jayvee football team won its district opener, beating Glenvar 22-8 at Glenvar Thursday. The win improved the team’s overall record to 2-1.
The Buffaloes took a 14-0 halftime lead. Eli Overstreet scored on a 29 yard run and also caught a 7 yard touchdown pass from Gus Underwood. Overstreet also scored a first half PAT.
Glenvar got a third quarter touchdown off a Floyd fumble. But on the ensuing kickoff, Dorien Harris ran the kick back 76 yards for a touchdown. Brent Webster added the PAT for the final margin.
Harris had 82 yards rushing on 11 carries, while Overstreet had seven carries for 63 yards. Underwood went 5-for-9 passing for 56 yards.
Coach Doug Thompson credited Peter Martin on the defense. “It’s always good to have solid play out of your defensive tackles,” Thompson said.
The Buffaloes play at Radford tonight (Thursday).
