Crawford’s 41 points key win for Buffaloes at Stuart
Floyd County High School’s varsity boys’ basketball team opened the season with a 92-83 win over Patrick County at Stuart Friday, December 11.
The Cougars got eight points from Parker Heath and six from Jacob Reynolds in taking a 22-11 first quarter lead. Tucker Crawford had three field goals, Chandler Jones had a field goal and two free throw and Justin Harris had a free throw for the Buffaloes.
Floyd outscored Patrick 22-18 in the second quarter to trim the halftime margin to 40-33. Wood had eight points and Reynolds had six, while Crawford had ten points on a three, a field goal and five free throws, Jarrod Lusk had a field goal and two free throws, Cole Peters had two field goals, Nathan Coartney had a field goal, and Harris made two free throws.
In the third quarter the Cougars stretched the lead to 67-45 as Heath had ten points. For Floyd, Crawford had two three pointers and two field goals, Jones and Peters had two field goals each, Coartney hit a three and Joey Conduff had a field goal.
Crawford keyed the fourth quarter rally as the Buffaloes finally went ahead with three minutes left. Crawford had 15 points on four three pointers and three free throws. Jones had 12 points on a three, a field goal and seven free throws, Lusk had a field goal and a free throw, and Coartney, Harris and Peters each had a field goal.
