Hedges taking final bow at the BarterBack in high school John Hedges was 5-feet, 3-inches, weighed 100 pounds and wanted to play sports. Well, he really just wanted to be part of a team.
He found it, maybe 30 years late, but he found it. At the Barter Theatre.
Jewel Ramey ushers her 7- and 8-year-old grandchildren, Alexie and Cassie, out of their Abingdon apartment and shuts the door. Only then is D.J., 15, allowed to put in the DVD.
He slumps back on the couch, occasionally tapping his foot as Kenny Chesney’s “Who You’d Be Today” plays and a photo montage of his mother slips across the television screen.
It’s the second time he’s watched the video since his mother’s death four years ago.
