Bland County defeats Fort ChiswellWhen the Fort Chiswell football team boarded the bus Friday evening for Bland County, two things were on the line for the Fort: A chance to be Mountain Empire District champions and a berth in the Division 2 playoffs.
The George Wythe Maroons held off a late two-point conversion by the Chilhowie Warriors to win the game and to also win the Hogoheegee District championship.

Chilhowie defeats Rural RetreatOrange, black and white were the colors of choice when the Chilhowie Warriors met the Rural Retreat Indians Friday night in RR.
The George Wythe Maroons traveled to Saltville Friday night, and defeated the hosting Northwood Panthers 49-6 on a night filled with cold, rain, and lighting failure.
The Fort Chiswell Pioneers remained tied for first place in the Mountain Empire District football race by defeating Grayson County 25-6 Friday night at C.F. McKinney Stadium.
