5th District race: Incumbent focuses on job growthDel. Bill Carrico (R-5th) is looking forward “to two weeks from now,” when the Nov. 6 election will be over and the voters will have decided whether to send him back to Richmond for a fourth term. Seeking re-election on top of the duties of the office has made for a hectic spring, summer and fall.
Susie Dixon Garner believes her skills as an accountant suit her to represent the 5th District in Virginia’s House of Delegates.

UPDATE: Police capture four in Washington CountyThe sound of sirens echoing through North Fork River Road in Washington County signaled the end of a three-day manhunt.
Four people were captured, three of whom were arrested, in connection with the shooting of a Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office deputy around 8:30 Sunday morning off U.S. Highway 19. Additional charges in regards to two armed robberies in Tazewell County are pending.
Dealer wants to develop market for new fleet of electric vehicles
A group home for juveniles with emotional problems has raised questions among the residents of eastern Wythe County where the proposed site is located. A representative from Camelot of Virginia, which will manage the residential treatment center, will answer them at an informational meeting Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church.
