With Diana Krall’s husky crooning in the background one evening, Mike Mucha and his wife, Angie, enjoyed coffee and conversation with an Abingdon couple. The easy-flowing conversation could have happened in their living room, but it was at the Muchas’ new shop on Main Street, which they playfully named “Handsome Molly’s.”

His energy seems inexhaustible and he may be a kind of perpetual motion machine, getting back from those around him the energy and devotion he imparts. Ever upbeat, ever authentic, he’s always in the moment, never watching for the end of his shift.

A local radio station owner, deejay and voice artist aspired to play a suspect on a television’s “Law & Order,” but his dream came true in more of a “Dateline NBC” way Wednesday. Smyth County Sheriff David Bradley and Commonwealth’s Attorney Roy Evans announced Thursday that Jeff Raynor, 45, of Glade Spring was arrested on one count of using electronic communication to solicit sexual activity with a child and one count of possession of child pornography.
