Eric Deaton will take over as Wythe County Community Hospital’s chief executive officer on July 15.
He is now working with the hospital’s management team to ensure a smooth transition.

The annual report “Crime in Virginia” issued by the state police showed the county with 1,069 incidents reported last year. The state police gathered the data and indexes crime based on a population of 100,000. The county’s index for 2006 was 3657.
