Bears maul IndiansThe Rural Retreat Indians played host to the Bland County Bears Thursday night in a non-district match-up. When the final horn had sounded the Bears had chalked up a 52-32 victory.
Both teams started off slow, but Kyle Kennedy opened the scoring with a trey. Moments later, Shawn Robertson hit from the lane as BC led 5-0.

Rural Retreat runs over BlandThe Rural Retreat Indians advanced to the Region C finals by defeating the Bland County Bears 34-12 Friday night.
Both teams had plenty of support from the stands that braved the cold, windy weather. David Harrison led the Indians by churning up almost 200 rushing yards, with Michael Mills chipping in over 100. Several Indians came up for the defense. Michael Smith, Terry Mutter, Terry Fields, Jared Dix, Jeremy Cregger, Justin Stoneman, Kyle Testerman, Josh Kaulfuss and Harrison were names that were heard often.

Bears maul PioneersIf the Fort Chiswell Pioneers didn’t know who Korey Kennedy was, they do now. He chalked up 209 yards rushing this past Friday night as the Bland County Bears handed Fort Chiswell its eighth loss of the season, 48-21 at the Fort.

Football FridayEven though the Rural Retreat Middle School football team lost a close game to Glenvar Thursday night, the team has already assured itself of having an excellent season.
Glenvar defeated RRMS 42-35, but that was only the second loss of the season for the Indians.

Bears top MustangsEven though the final outcome wasn’t decided until the final seconds were ticking away, Bland County’s Bears can boast that the critical mistakes that plagued the team in its loss to Holston the week before, were nowhere to be seen last week against Eastern Montgomery.
