Charlotte Ammons has a passion for motorcycles. A riding instructor for two area Harley-Davidson dealerships, she knows a growing number of women share her enthusiasm. Last year, she began formulating a plan to unite many of those women. This July, hundreds of them will converge in Marion during a four-day period for a women’s motorcycle rally.
Monday evening, Ammons told the Marion Town Council that last year she was riding with her daughter on the Back of the Dragon, the 32-mile stretch of Rt. 16 that crosses three mountains between Tazewell and Marion. She began to contemplate how and where a rally could be held to “celebrate women and motorcycles.”
