Veterans having parade November 8th
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7854 and America Legion Post #127 will be sponsoring a Veterans Day Parade on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 3 p.m.
The Town of Floyd will be honoring all those who have served in the Armed Forces. The Town will be decorated in Old Glory’s colors, red, white and blue as 123 American Flags will fly from every light pole along the Floyd’s main streets. All Veterans are invited to join VFW Post #7854 and AL Post #127 in the parade.
Assembly will begin at 2:00 p.m. and start at 3:00 p.m. from Maberry Funeral Home and proceed down Main Street. The parade will be supported by the 29th Div. National Guard Band, Virginia Tech Gregory Guard Drill Team, Radford Army R”OTC Highlanders, Daughters of the American Revolution, Son of Confederate Veterans, Floyd County High School Band, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies, Patriot Guard Riders, Humane Society, Moose Lodge, Lions Club, Volunteer Rescue Squads, Blue Ridge Park Rangers, Volunteer Fire Departments, Sheriff, Virginia State Police, and others.
An old fashioned USO Canteen, sponsored by the Floyd County Woman’s Club, will be serving hot coffee, hot apple cider, doughnuts and brownies.
