On Wednesday , January 27,eight State Police divers were searching a pond on Walnut Knob for Letisha “Tish” Faust, 50, who has been missing since December 9.
Faust was last seen at the Floyd Pharmacy. Her car was found on New Year’s Eve on the Franklin County side of Walnut Knob. Her personal belongings were inside. Search dogs were used in the area, and one of Faust’s sandals was found. A ice-covered pond was also searched using an robotic underwater camera.
Due to weather conditions, which included low temperatures, the earlier searches on Walnut Knob were postponed.
This week the search resumed, but again the weather due to change at the end of the week was expected to interrupt the search.
Lt. Stephen McGuire of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office told the the Press a search of the pond, now partially melted, could take several days. Wednesday, he noted, was the best day weather-wise police have had since the earlier searches at the site.
The State Police divers travel all over the state, and McGuire, said they would be working other cases in the coming days and their availability is limited by their schedule.
