Bulldogs advance to semifinals of volleyball tournament

TAZEWELL – A three se t win over Grundy propelled Tazewell into the semifinals of the Southwest District Volleyball Tournament Nov. 2.
The Bulldogs prevailed by score of 25-7, 25-20 and 25-19 to advance to the semifinals and a matchup with Marion. Cara Cecil had 15 kills and four digs to pace Tazewell to the victory.
The Lady ‘Dogs also got solid efforts from Sydnei Lester, Lindsey Scribner and Natasha Blankenship. Lester finished the night with 11 kills and five blocks and Scribner had 23 assists and seven digs.
Blankenship finished the night with 27 assists in the three games. Natalie Parsons and Becca Pike also had a solid match for the Bulldogs.
Parsons finished with seven digs and three aces and Pike had four digs. Marion earned the berth opposite Tazewell with a win over Abingdon.
Richlands beat Graham in another quarterfinal matchup and advanced to the semifinals and a match with regular season champ Carroll County.
