A Bland County man has been charged in connection with a Thursday evening traffic fatality on U.S. 52 in Wythe County.
Virginia State Police Trooper J.G. Armstrong arrested Melvin Chadwick Compton of Bland late Friday night.

Traci Lynn Fricke and her friends Sandra Salyers and Anita Gee were headed from Huntington, W.Va., to Myrtle Beach, S.C., last Friday. On the way, they planned to stop in Charlotte, N.C., to visit Fricke’s brother.
