Barbara C. Patton is Wythe County Community Hospital’s new director of marketing and community education. The registered nurse and certified diabetes educator brings more than 15 years of nursing experience and more than 10 years of public speaking to the position.

Sharitz, Umberger named leaders

Martha Umberger has made a habit of winning elections.
And thanks to another vote in her favor, she has her first leadership role on the Wythe County Board of Supervisors.
Her latest winning election came courtesy of her peers on the board as they unanimously elected her vice chairwoman for 2008 during their first meeting of the year. The supervisors also elected Bucky Sharitz as chairman for the second consecutive year during the Jan. 8 meeting.

2003: Graduates from Wytheville Community College’s physical therapist assistant program.
2004: Accepts a job as a licensed physical therapist assistant at Pro Health Fitness Center and Northwest Medical Partners in Mount Airy, N.C.
2008: Opens a new physical therapy clinic in Mount Airy with head physical therapist Casey Vedder.
