Finally Some Good News: All for a good laugh

Revelation, Revelation,

Liars go to Hell, Liars go to Hell,
Burn, burn, burn, - burn, burn, burn,
Although she was at least 25 years old, Shelley’s voice was like a child’s voice. This made the message of the little song sound even harsher. She and a number of friends sang the ditty to me when I walked into the room. It was all in fun, but they were singing about me! I have to admit, I had it coming. I had told a lie.

Possum Philosophy: A solitary figure

Although I never served in the military, my family on both my father’s and mother’s sides had numerous members who did. My brothers, sister and I were all taught to respect and honor our servicemen and women. For that reason among others, I have always tried to serve as an advocate for our region’s many veterans and to encourage readers to honor and respect all those who have served our nation in war and peace as well. I have written numerous columns and done many features telling the stories of our veterans and encouraging readers to honor them not just on Memorial and Veterans Day but every day.

I MADE IT UP: Water on the moon

“Water on the Moon” the headline screamed, and scientists were all agog.  A NASA satellite had crashed into a moon crater and a second satellite analyzed the plume that erupted.  If there’s water up there, they say, there would be drinking water for future astronauts, as well as hydrogen that could power future spacecraft. 

Well, la-di-dah.  I can think of a lot of other things that I wish they had discovered. 

HEART BEAT: Whatever the Vote

This week, I am studying policies to weigh options for insurance at my workplace, where we are shifting providers.  The options comprise an abundance of riches.  Whatever I choose, I will be well cared for, as I have been for 26 years.
