I would just like to comment on the July ll, 2008 article on Mr. Surber and his police department. I am a 50 year old women and have had only one speeding ticket in my life time and have never been in trouble. I went to the town of Saltville for concern for my son because he was working in the town of Saltville at the time of June 9, 2007. Mr. Surber went to my son’s job to talk to him and my son called me and was upset. I told him to come on home and that I would go over and talk to Mr. Suber and find out what was going on. Well was that a big mistake. He just did not want to talk to me. I thought that he was going to pick my son up and take him to jail. He said that he had made threats to employes but would not tell me what he had done. I tryed to talk to him and my youngest son said come on mom and I told my son that I guess I would have to get Cody a lawyer. Thats when he dicided he would arrest me. We were outside on the street. I was going to my car and all three cops kept saying we’re going to arest you we are going to arrest you. By then I was so fed up that I said do what ever you got to do. They took me to jail for nothing I did’nt even know what I was arrested for until I got to the police station. My charges were for disorderly conduct and trespassing at a police station. I had to get a lawyer and go to court twice for nothing. Both cases were dismissed. I have not been back in the town of Saltville since this happened. We did all of our shopping and Business in this town because it was closer for us to there since we live close to Saltville. It’s a shame that they have to run good people out of there town. Since this has happened none of my family will shop in Saltville anymore. I did not get a apology from the Town or from the Police Department. They put me through alot for 7 months. If you can’t trust a police officer to talk to Then tell me who you can trust?  Thanks Jane S. Cruey

OH My what is That Town coming to Go To Talk To Then About Your Son and you get arrested
For Tresspassing at a police station OMG they are Crazy there
Oh Man I want to say so much but I might get arrested for saying what I want to say
Wonder what they would do if U went to report something “as in” Drugs will they charge you with the drugs
Sorry that town has become a JOKE

Just My Opinion They need to get a life in Saltville
Maybe they are bored nothing else to do
Instead of arresting people that has done nothing why don’t they go a get the drug dealers/buyers etc
And I am sure they know where they are And I ‘m sure there is alot there
But that’s just my opinion

Some one needs to find out who Rodney Kings lawyers were and have them to come to this area to defend all the people the saltville police department are arresting here lately.  I hear its getting pretty brutal.

I don’t think it matters who lawyer you get. If you go to the right sources you can get help. You can go on line and find out just about anything you need to know about any situation. Yes I agree there have been some pretty brutal happens in Saltville. Word gets around real quick. These people need prayer and alot of it.

Let’s get back to the meaning of protect and serve. Seems like theses guys are serving instead of protecting on the trail. Just who are they serving and who are they protecting? Anyone have a answer. I’m sure no one will speak up. Because it seems like anyone and everyone is afraid to say anything.

If memory serves me correctly, the police officers involved in the Rodney King case were originally acquitted. It was only after the rioting that they were thrown under the bus.

Rodney King I can understand and also the police officers. But sometimes people are treated brutal when they don’t deserve it.
