I recently wrote a letter to the Enterprise concerning the Williams Family and their new home on Van Mar Drive. This family has done everything legal concerning their home and should be able to enjoy it; but, they have not been able to enjoy it because of some people who think they shouldn’t be allowed to leave their new home where it is located.
The Williams’ purchased a home that is or I should say was at the time allowed on the lot they purchased according to the present residential zoning requirements of the Town of Wytheville. Some of that has been changed by the Town Council since the Williams’ home was placed on Van Mar Drive, which is a shame. The Town Council’s decision to change the law because of this is one of the many things that are unsettling about this situation. Why was a petition started to remove the Williams’ home but not the other modular homes located out there? Who actually started this petition against the Williams family? I spoke with one of the people who signed the petition and the name of the man who approached them about signing it was the same man who I understand recently applied for a job with the WPD and blamed Eddie Williams because he was turned down when in fact Detective Williams was not even on the hiring committee who decided who would be selected for the position. We must ask ourselves, was there a motive of revenge that started this vendetta against the Williams family?
There are several of us who have opted to stand by the Williams family. We have a petition online that you who think this is wrong can sign on behalf of the Williams Family. We are asking that the Judge who hears this case in July to make a decision to leave the Williams home where it is and that the Wytheville Town Council will reverse their decision to change a law because a few people went along with a bitter person. The person I spoke with who signed the petition against the Williams family said they were actually misled. They had no idea that there was a motive of another nature behind this.
Below is the web address where you can access the petition in favor of leaving the Williams family along. I would like to say this, I have also spoke to some who would not sign the other petition and they do not believe this should be happening. I stress my concerns that the petition that started all of this mess does not reflect the views of all residents on Van Mar Drive or the Wythe View subdivision.
