I recently wrote a letter to the Enterprise concerning the Williams Family and their new home on Van Mar Drive. This family has done everything legal concerning their home and should be able to enjoy it; but, they have not been able to enjoy it because of some people who think they shouldn’t be allowed to leave their new home where it is located.

The Williams’ purchased a home that is or I should say was at the time allowed on the lot they purchased according to the present residential zoning requirements of the Town of Wytheville. Some of that has been changed by the Town Council since the Williams’ home was placed on Van Mar Drive, which is a shame. The Town Council’s decision to change the law because of this is one of the many things that are unsettling about this situation. Why was a petition started to remove the Williams’ home but not the other modular homes located out there? Who actually started this petition against the Williams family?  I spoke with one of the people who signed the petition and the name of the man who approached them about signing it was the same man who I understand recently applied for a job with the WPD and blamed Eddie Williams because he was turned down when in fact Detective Williams was not even on the hiring committee who decided who would be selected for the position.  We must ask ourselves, was there a motive of revenge that started this vendetta against the Williams family?

There are several of us who have opted to stand by the Williams family. We have a petition online that you who think this is wrong can sign on behalf of the Williams Family.  We are asking that the Judge who hears this case in July to make a decision to leave the Williams home where it is and that the Wytheville Town Council will reverse their decision to change a law because a few people went along with a bitter person. The person I spoke with who signed the petition against the Williams family said they were actually misled. They had no idea that there was a motive of another nature behind this.

Below is the web address where you can access the petition in favor of leaving the Williams family along.  I would like to say this, I have also spoke to some who would not sign the other petition and they do not believe this should be happening.  I stress my concerns that the petition that started all of this mess does not reflect the views of all residents on Van Mar Drive or the Wythe View subdivision.

Go to this site and sign the petition:  http://www.petitiononline.com/24382/

So who are the people aligned against them?  If it’s been published, I missed it.

Nowhere do I read names of the complainants, however.  Why weren’t they printed and not just the name of their counsel?

Will of FC, I hope this answers your question. The names on the lawsuit are a matter of public record. I had heard some rumors about who was on it, so I checked it out for myself because there were some names I just could not believe would be on there. No way some of these people would do this because I know them & they are people who know God & that God would not approve of this type of senerio. I checked it out & was so disappointed. No one is really who we think they are.

Here is what I found: These are the signitures on the pending lawsuit which will go to court on July 22.

GEORGE ZUURBIER, MADEINE ZUURBIER,
RICHARD NORTHROP, CORNELIA NORTHROP
BETTY BILLINGSLEY
GORDON YONCE
DANALD NANCE, LETITIA NANCE

So how did the trial play out.  Did this family have to move?

In answer to your question, No the family does not have to move yet. The Judge refused to dismiss the case. He wants it to go to trial so he can hear both sides. You can go to the site below and read about the outcome of the trial.

I don’t know if many people have paid attention to what the Town Council voted on because of this situation or not. You can also go to the site below and read the minutes of those meetings where they voted to pass the ordinance to bar modular homes from areas like Van Mar Drive. Look at the February 11, 25th, and the March 10 minutes.

What this means if anything should happen to these homes, they cannot be replaced with another modular. This ordinance was only voted on after all of this stuff happened with the Williams family. Why would the Town Council do this to please a few people on Van Mar Drive?

Shame on the people of the Birdland Subdivision, namely those on Van Mar Drive, that are trying to make the Williams family move their home!!!  There had to building permits, occupancy certificates, and numerous on-site inspections for the home to even have been set up much less moved into.  Surely, the building inspector in Wytheville signed off on all of these things, thus APPROVING this home to be situated on the overly snooty Van Mar Drive.  I looked at this same piece of property before the Williams’ bought it and ended up with these nightmarish neighbors, and I thank God I didn’t buy it!!!  I hope that when the judge does hear this ridiculous case in the Fall that he sees fit to leave these good people alone and lets them stay put where they are=====and that he lets all those overly snooty neighbors divide the cost of the Williams’ legal fees as well as their own!
