As voters prepare to vote, some of our politician’s thinking is quite glaring and serve as a snapshot of things to come, if we are not careful with our vote.

Do we want the government to intrude further into our daily lives?  Do we want to carry the burden of additional taxes?

This past Thursday, while in a meeting in Pakistan, Hillary Clinton offered the Pakistanis some advice from a Democrats perspective.

“Clinton told senior Pakistani newspaper editors in Lahore, AFP reported. “The percentage of taxes on GDP (in Pakistan) is among the lowest in the world… We (the United States) tax everything that moves and doesn’t move, and that’s not what we see in Pakistan,” she said.“

Clinton was backed up by Democratic Congressman, Barney Frank.  In an interview, Frank told of the Democrats attempts to expand the role of government into our daily lives.

Frank: “We Are Trying On Every Front To Increase The Role Of Government”

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2009/10/26/frank_we_are_trying_on_every_front_to_increase_the_role_of_government.html    <<<<  Video of Frank calling for more government intrusion into our lives.

I believe government should be limited in size and scope.  Our taxes should reflect this limited government.

Government should serve the citizens, and not the other way around.

We cast our ballots after careful consideration.

I agree that the last 6 years of the GOP’s congressional control, their spending was too hgih.  They spent like Democrats.

During 2008, Bush had a $487 billion deficit.  Now Obama has a $1.4 trillion deficit.  About 3 x more.

Half truths?  You throw the term quite freely & offer no example of these so-called half-truths?
Post Grad in Poli-Sci?  That’s simply a falsely attributed quote.  I will gladly take a read if you can show me this quote.

With that said, I stand by my contention that most people work hard for their money and should be allowed to keep it, and that government should be limited in size & scope.

Since you use no half- truths, please give the full statements in which you ‘hand picked’ the quotations you posted in Red. The full statement in full context—Let the people on this forum see the FULL TEXT these two statements were ‘hand-picked’ from so they are able to see how you actually TWISTED the facts to meet your bias.

You are the D.C. Post Grad/ccone1 is your alter-ego Poli-Sci Grad/Wythevillemom is your concerned parent ego/ How many more exist?
The post was about your political bias and One-Party BS answer to everything—Changing the subject changes Nothing. Still no Local non-political Posts?

C’mon, 2012—-You know as well as I that most people do not trust links provided on forums and will NOT click on them—

The Frank quote was about ‘Increase Gov Role in Regulating’——De-Regulation by the Previous Administration was responsible for much of the mess we’re in—-Even the GOP has had to admit so much—
The link to the Cinton quote does not work, But Her quote was on blasting Pakistan about carrying some of the costs and responsibility themselves for their own economy and Military—

This is what I mean by half-truths and Bias Spin—-Half-Truths are polite, hidden Lies—If you truly have nothing to hide, Please at least have the decency and morals to tell the people the whoe truth—-Give voters on this forum the facts and let them decide—Fair and Balanced? (Yeah, Right!)

Frank said he & the Dems want to regulate everything.

Most deregulation happened in the late 90’s with the Republican controlled Congress repealling the Glass-Steagall Act.

This repeal was endorsed by then Treasury Secretary, Rubin, and signed into law by Bill Clinton.

Both parties played a role in the deregulation.  It was not done under Bush, but Clinton, with a Republican Congress.

If it was a bad decision, then Clinton should have used his power to veto.

Republicans never had enough votes to overturn a veto.

Hillary Clinton was speaking to the Pakistani’s ability to fund their own needs, and you are correct in your assertion of this point.

My point in quoting her was that her answer to the Pakistani’s dilemna was telling of her core beliefs.

She, and many of her party members believe you can spend however you want, and just tax “everything” that moves as a way to fund it.  She used the US as an example of how we deal with funding.

So I stick with my original claim that Frank wants the government to regulate everything, and Clinton believes we can spend all we want and just tax “everything” that moves.

I aree with the excessive taxing and am tired of the Government growing———However, as we both know, some things must be regulated in order to avoid monopolies, excesseive fees,  provide competition, etc. in order to avoide a Caste System and to protect the well-being of all, especially the middle class.

Total Deregulation benefits only the wealthy few.

Using only a few words taken out of context does not reveal anyone’s core beliefs. I would never assume to be able to judge someone or their values based on just a few words.

That is why you were given 2 ears and only 1 mouth. Maybe you were meant to do twice as much listening as talking.
