Sen Reed announced that the Senate will include in the health care reform bill a public option
with provisions for the States to opt out.
Now a HUGE question to consider when you vote for Governor, McDonnell has expressed his
disapproval for any health care reform, which to me means if he were Governor he would opt
out of the public option.

YES HE WILL, fromtheslide—-He has said so many times. He will ELIMINATE any chance Virginia has to vote

or participate in Insurance Reform—Give you any idea why he received $50 Million from National
Republican Comm. to defeat Deeds? And who else has him in their pockets—

Careful counting those chicks too soon.

Governor McDonnell may not have to decide….if it doesn’t pass.

Do you really think any state will opt out when they can shed some or all of their medicaid patients to the feds? Not to mention all states will ditch their network of insurances and turn their state, county and city workers plans over to the government option.

State, County and cities CANNOT drop coverage—This is specifically spelled out in the proposals—All currently receive Federal Aid in programs such as housing, transportation, etc. Also, all 50 state’s Medicaid and medical assistance programs are currently federally subsidised. The proposed federal insurance program is very clear on number of employees in small businesses and income limits.

It is currently estimated that 2% of Americans would be eligible for the Federal Plan.

All this fear and resistance to this insurance program has been brought on by the insurance industry feeding people lies and bogus information in order to protect their HUGE profits.

I believe much of the resistance to the plan is the result of people reading the last plan, and having health care supporters tell them that what they read was not really in the bill.  Voters were told not to believe their “lying eyes”.  Rationing comes to mind.

If you take $500 billion out of the medicare program, but do not reduce the number on medicare, then the recipients are now fighting over a much smaller pie.  How will they get around rationing when there is less to go around?

As for their profit margins aren’t they shown to be 3.3%-5%.  As an industry, it ranks pretty low.

Shouldn’t the opt out option be granted to individuals themselves and not the whole state?

Sure it should be granted to individuals, 2012—-I agree on this.  But how do the children get to chose??
Who decides for the children?? Who pays in the long run?? Why should responsible Americans who carry insurance pay higher premiums to cover emergency care for individuals with cell phones, premium cable, big screen TVs or nice cars because they chose to be irresponsible—and just opt out??

Why should individuals be forced to educate their children? Just opt out. Wear seat belts? just opt out. Pay school tax if you don’t have children? just opt out. Not smoke in public buildings? just opt out.

Taxes? just opt out—The needs of the many outway the needs of the few?—just opt out—

All this fear and resistance to this insurance program has been brought on by the insurance industry feeding people lies and bogus information in order to protect their HUGE profits—Just opt out.

only 3.3 to 5% profit, 2012? This is after salaries and bonuses, my friend. For stockholders. How much has your health insurance increased in the past 3 years??—-68% for me. These companies must have really been doing us a favor and working at a LOSS for years-(YEAH, RIGHT)

Our insurance went down 4 bucks a month this year when we switched for the second time (in a year) here at the hospital. Same co-pays similar plans (except our Rx coverage changed a little).

If I was in a position to gain from this plan you bet I’d line up behind it, however.com working a private sector job and being in healthcare; I’m looking at increases in taxes and decreases in wages just to pay for others. I realize I already pay for 4 or 5 people with my tax dollars, and increased premiums because of the uninsured, however.com do I really have deep enough pockets to pay for 10 more people and take a hit in salary? I really don’t think so….

What has the government ever run that was cheaper and more efficient?

Put this plan into place and there won’t be 3 people working in southwest virginia or southern west virginia.

I don’t think it will pass but on the outside chance it does, it will beneficial to the insurance companies, healthcare lobbysists, and the politicians who pretended to be attempting to help the people as opposed to their money line. With the opt out scenerio-McDonnell will certainly opt out.
