American Foreign Policy drifts aimlessly

I commented a few weeks ago about the current state of our foreign policy. I am focused on the current foreign policy, because none of us can change the past policies.

America’s foreign policy seems dangerously adrift in some choppy seas.

Our president asked for and received a report from his Commanders outlining a plan for Afghanistan. They complied with his request. The ensuing report called for more troops.

When he came into office, he was given a new game plan by the Bush administration. After 7 years of failure to conclude the Afghan initiative, I am glad he did not take advice from Bush.

Ten months into his administration, and Obama still has no plan. Perhaps he chose to discard the two previous plans in favor of one of his own.

He has had time, but continues to hem-haw. This has been the deadliest year for our troops in Afghanistan, surpassing all KIA’s in the previous years combined.

This is only one area where foreign policy indecisiveness and/or poor judgement come into play.

Russia backed him off the defense shield in E. Europe. I do agree with that decision, however, it makes the US word less reliable.

Naively, Obama agreed to allow Russia access to our nuclear facilities, ignoring the fact they are keen on developing their next generation warheads.

Russia is currently in violation of the START Treaty. They are developing multi-warhead missiles that are forbidden under START.

Does Obama upbraid them for this violation? Not a word, but he did invite them to view our missiles so they could count them. Simultaneously naive & poor judgement.

What did Obama get in exchange from Russia?

Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

As an encore, Russia has agreed to sell more weapons to Obama acolyte Hugo Chavez of Venezuela.

During the transition last winter, Obama was briefed on Iran having an additional nuclear facility.  Our European allies wanted to confront Iran aboout this late winter/early spring.  Obama chose to stall until he chaired the UN council.  He ignored the ticking clock for his own personal benefit.

France was angry at such hubris.

Now the IAEA tells us that Iran has enough material to build a bomb and the required technology.

Russia refused to support Obama’s call for sanctions against Iran.

Irregardless of mounting evidence. Obama insists on holding no-precondition talks with Tehran.  Hillary Clinton warned against such a sophmoric move last year during the primaries.  I hope she keeps her ringer volume on ‘high’ when she goes to bed at night.

Looking towards China we see a regime that makes little effort at developing their own technology.  The bulk of their efforts are geared at stealing other countries intellectual property.

That was a point driven home to me by a driver I had on a trip to China a couple years ago.  He had no concept of this being a bad thing and thought it was funny how they steal intellectual property.

My point in bring up China is that we know that they will steal our technology if given the chance.

I am not being mean in stating the obvious.

Clinton allowed them into our Los Alamos, NM nuclear facility and they did just that.  Many of you probably remember the incident I am referencing.  They gained access by invitation, and proceeded to steal.

Obama, much smarter than Clinton would never allow them access to that facility.

He has invited them to our military bases around the country, including the Pentagon for a week long visit.

Have you heard of tiny hidden cameras?  So have they.

So as our president continues to slay dragons in the media, he is allowing our ship of state to drift dangerously rudderless in hostile waters.

No suprises here, after all, this is what we get when a “Comunity Organizer” is hired for the posistion of “Commander in Chief”

Sad thing is, his inexperance, and indesiveness, WILL get lots of people killed in the long run.

History is clear on what happens when tyrants are appeased..

Neville Chamberlain landed at Heston Aerodrome on 30 September 1938, and spoke to the crowds there:

“...the settlement of the Czechoslovakian problem, which has now been achieved is, in my view, only the prelude to a larger settlement in which all Europe may find peace. This morning I had another talk with the German Chancellor, Herr Hitler, and here is the paper which bears his name upon it as well as mine (waves paper to the crowd - receiving loud cheers and “Hear Hears”). Some of you, perhaps, have already heard what it contains but I would just like to read it to you (proceeds to read the agreement). [...] We regard the agreement signed last night and the Anglo-German Naval Agreement, as symbolic of the desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another again.“

Later that day he stood outside Number 10 Downing Street and again read from the document and concluded:

“My good friends, this is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And now I recommend you to go home and sleep quietly in your beds.

This is like hearing a dithering dick speech. Is there not any country you don’t want to bomb and invade? You do realize that is why Rome had to close up shop.

War mongers eat their own children & sick hating minds think alike.

To bad you have nothing of substance to add.

As I said above, history IS CLEAR on what happens when you Appease tyrants.

Who said I wanted to bomb anyone? Or invade, ANYONE?? Eating children??Do you even realize what your saying??

Sadly, 40 brave young Americans have been killed this month alone while awaiting a presidential decision.

Obama has had the McChrystal report for two months.

He is having a hard time making a decision.  A reasonable person might conclude Obama is waiting to announce his decision until after the NJ & VA governors race.  He doesn’t want to make it anymore difficult to defend his decision for the candidates, nor upset the far-left of his party.

He has played a record amount of Golf in this first nine months in office…......and that takes a lot of concentration.

As a matter of fact, Obama has golfed more days in nine months than Bush did in the first three years of his presidency.

Judgement & prioritization would help our troops and foreign policy.

While the world awaits a decision, and another round of Golf, the following articles has appeared.

U.S. troops hope Afghanistan sacrifices not in vain

“I used to believe in what we were doing here,“ the soldier said. “I’m not too sure anymore. It’s just we don’t know what the endgame is. We’ve been getting hit hard out here. What are we here to win? I have to believe that what Gen. [Stanley M.] McChrystal is doing is going to work. But who knows how long that will last before someone else decides to change the game plan again? I mean, do the people in Washington even remember we’re here?“
