HELLO, I AM THE OWNER AND CARE TAKER OF STP KENNELS (Save the Puppies). I HAVE MADE THE NEWS AS DID SEVERAL OTHER HUMANE SOCIETY FOSTERS. EMBRASSED BY IT? NO!  I LOVE ANIMALS, ESPECIALLY DOGS. I HAVE 6 OF MY OWN AND FOSTER MANY. AND THAT IS THE PROBLEM.  HOW MANY CAN I FOSTER AND STILL PLEASE COUNTY OFFICIALS?  I AM A 60 YEAR OLD GREAT-GRANDMA. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HAD A SUMMONS FOR A MISDEMEANOR. THE CHARGE WAS FOR SAVING TOO MANY DOGS. HOW CAN YOU SAVE TOO MANY DOGS WHEN THEY HAVE BEEN ABUSED, NEGLECTED OR GIVEN AWAY. I WILL SIMPLY SAY THAT GOD MADE MAN THE CARE TAKER OF HIS CREATURES. MAY GOD BLESS YOU FOR HELPING US.

I wish the Wythe County Board of Supervisors, the animal shelter employees, and members of the Humane Society would all try to work together better for the good of animals.  I know for a fact that one foster care provider goes out of her way, works tirelessly every evening to take care of unwanted and abused aniamls, and has to use lots of her own money to feed and take care of these animals.  Hats off to the Humane Society for their caring and efforts.  I wish the Bd. of Supervisors would care as much as these people do.

If anyone is interested in fostering some of the Animals in the care of the Wythe County Humane Society, please contact Ruthie Murray by emailing .  The Wythe County Humane Society needs your help, the animals need your help!  Please help by giving these animals a temporary loving home.

The county really needs to grow up they just gotta find a way to make money. If they put as much time in coming up with ways to charge people with fines so they can earn their raises. They waste more money on things we don’t need why cant we have no kill shelter. Correct me if I am wrong but if the county would pitch in and help to build a bigger better shelter would the Humane Society not help to run it. Then the problem there is the county don’t want anyone else knowing just how dirty they actually do run things. It’s a shame cause the only ones actually suffering in the situation is the dogs. Pretty much the county has condemned them to DEATH because they don’t want to get their hands dirty and get out there and do what it takes to find homes for the unwanted and to find the home for the lost sad faces of all the animals of Wythe county. All they want to do is sit behind their desk in their suits and dictate to everyone else what is to be done. It is sad to say the least when has anyone ever known for there to be stray dogs in walmart parking lot but you sure do see the “dog wardens” up there in their cool shades riding around the parking lot more than once a day looking at what is walking inside walmart. I am sorry to put it this way but that is the wrong kind of (female dog in heat). You are suppose to be looking for. If anyone thinks I am joking just ride thru walmart and see what I am talking about. Most people in the county don’t even know we have a shelter at all. The county really needs to step up their efforts in making this a decent place to live. Those are gods creations and you are killing them in probably more spite than anything else. DO NOT forget that most of the people in this decision making process are ELECTED officials and do unto others as you would have other do unto you. So good luck at your next election. To bad the dogs don’t get to vote. We wouldn’t have to worry about it then!!!
