I just witness one of the most disrepectful things ever at the race tonight. They put three 12 and 14 olds drivers onto the racetrack for a race. They had never raced before. Two of them end up going head on into the wall at full speed. One end up on it’s top. The ambulance, firetruck, wrecker, and many people came to the wreck. It took along time for them to put the Young driver into the ambulance. During this time the owner of the track was getting the next race on the track and interviewing the drivers and there was music playing on the speakers. What I saw was the driver put onto a back board and load into the ambulance. During this time is was festive on the track. No mention of the hurt driver. Also, during this time it was announced four vehicles had been broken into.  Thank god my car was not broken into. I have been going to the track many years and I don’t think I will go back. There was never an announcement of the condition of the driver. I pray they are ok. If anyone hears, please let us know…...

I to was at the races last night just as i am every other weekend. I understand your point about the driver, But the reason they took her out on a back board was just precautionary, she was fine, just hit her knee. My cousin was the one that “won”... due to the wreck, Those cars are made for that, they are 10 times safer then being out on the road in a normal car, and its not often that you will see someone actually get hurt, but i do agree fred could have said theey were taking her up there just to chekc and make sure everything was ok. And from what i heard there ended up being 32 cars broken into, dont take my word on that im not positive, but thats what i heard, my boy friends brothers car was broken into and they took there purse, and got all of there money. Its a horrible thing, and i guess it gives everyone a wake up call. I could have been anyone else just as easily, i had left my purse in our car, The SOB"s excuse my language will get what they deserve one of these days, Its sad that stuff like that happens and they cant find the people. The thing that bothers me the most at the race is the fact they have the little kids racing last, they never get to race before 11: im there until the whole thing is over because i go to watch all of the races, but its horrible that those youngins have to be out so late, and then are really tired by the time they get to get on the track, and also by that point the track is so slick! But n-e ways, thats just my opinion, im sorry to all of you who had a horrible thing done to you last night,

I complertely agree, fred makes alot of money each weekend, it would be pocket change to him to put lights thorugh out the parking lot, and even if he put up one camera on the building where you pay then at least if people were in cars then he would have there cars on tape. Unless they went out the back way, which is probably what the people did, he can nip that in the bud by closing that off, im not sure the point in it anyways, it takes u to the same place,..... He should look into some kind of upgrades after this incident.

I am still concern in the lag of respect for drivers and their condition on the track. He should have made an accouncement of the driver status, instead of worrying about getting the next race on the track. I guess it is the $$$$$$.

yes they should have but i guess that the childs family was down on the track with her, and any family that was in the stands had contact with the parents, they guessed they were the ones that mattered and the ones that needed to know. All it takes is going to the announcers booth if someone feels they need to know something, I think it would be stupid not to return to the track because of this, but if thats how you feel then so be it. We have the best track around, And thats the one thing i look forward to each week. If you think something should be different theres a reason Fred Brown has a email on the website. Feel free to contact him and voice your opinion, ... Thanks

Crime wouldn’t be such a problem at Wythe Raceway had staff not run off WCSD from assigning people to work there. They should atleast hire some sort of security to replace what they were there for.

yes they should, i was told why they stopped having the cops there, but cant recall it, But they should have some of some sort. heck a few of the cars that were broken into were right near the gates, where there was supposed to be someone standing.

The decision to “not make waves” or “offend the drunks and druggies” was made quite a few years ago. A bad choice on Fred’s part. The fact is, that it’s already out of control at Wythe Raceway. They allow beer and liquor to brought onto the premises and allow spectators to make multiple trips to the parking lot to get their fix. Just standing by the gate you can smell the pot that some of the patrons reek of. What would you expect to happen when everyone knows you prefer to look the other way?

Yea, there are tons of people in the stand with alcohol, the thing says no alcohol, but they dont bother to check the coolers brought in… Also thinking back we have been talking about this since saturday, i believe what happenedn was someone had it all planned out, because when there was all that static in the stands over the intercom, They kept saying whoever had the wireless to please turn it off, and it happened several times with plenty of time for someone to be breaking into cars, so i think personally someone knew that having one of those on would work, just my opinion, but the incident happened earlier than people thought, it could have easily happened before dark, they wouldnt have been very smart if so but i knew about it at least an hour before they announced that they had been broken into. Which would have been at least around maybe 10:00? im not sure what anyone else thinks about it but coulda been what happened…  ps. Just curious if anyone is kin to any of the drivers or who you all pull for, :D

Now I remember when i used to go to the racetrack that they did have cops there every saturday night. Man, i guess things just went downhill since i left in 2005. Thats pretty awful that they didn’t even mention the status of the drivers that were involved in the crash. I mean have courtsey enough to postpone talking to the drivers of the race tell you know that the drivers in the crash are ok. Now, then if i heard someone breaking into someone’s car, i would be right beside my car with some type of winchester waiting on them, you know what i mean.lol.

lol, yea same here, And my point of it was that they didnt imediatly interview her, they had the girl in the ambulance and her family with her, they drove to the top of the track where they sat for 15 minutes. Im just thinking it was because she was a minor, because they ALWAYS give the condition of a driver if theres a bad wreck just as they did with keith griffiths Sat. night, But ne way, I think i would be there with the mossberg 20. gauge, torture em a little. haha

Wyth raceway is the same as it was in the 1970’s-  drugs and alcohol have always been present at these races and most likely always will. yes, they were even present when the police made patrol through the stands with very few arrests ever being made for drunk in public or DUI after. As fr as the auto thefts, it is a shame, but anyone should have enough common sense to not leave a purse, money or other valuables in a locked vehicle, especially at such an event.

I’ve been traumatized from a very similar accident. One of my best friends got killed during a race. Just before the race he mentioned that he had a bad feeling and I told him that he is probably nervous.
