In my experience, the problem with OSHA being forced to investigate is that they always call ahead to the place they are investigating, or give some form of notice. I worked in factories for years, both on the floor and in administration and I have never seen a “surprise” OSHA inspection. Every time there was a visit, we always knew about it at least a week ahead of time. So, if there was a really dangerous violation, you could bet your bottom dollar that violation wouldn’t be taking place on that day.

I agree that the problem with osha is they call ahead by like a week before they show up giving ample time for the company to fix any “major” problems. But i have to agree with karen on the previous post about contacting GM’s Main headquarters with your complaints if they have no desire to fix the problems with the unsafe hazards that osha wont site them for or fix the problems with there service dept. i recommend reporting them i have a relative that works for a gm dealership in the same region as this one and he gave me the email address for the regional manager for this region the guy’s name is kevin berry and the email address is kevin.s.berry@gm.com if no one else will address your concerns than this guy probrally will i recommend taking all steps prior to emailing him . hope this helps any involved

Do any of you have any idea how many disgruntled employees go to the DOL OSHA web site and make complaints? Founded or not, OSHA is required to investigate. Unless there is a violation that is extremely dangerous, they will give the business a written warning and a period of time to correct the problems. There are few if any businesses that could pass a OSHA inspection 100%. It is sort of like an audit, they will find something no matter what.

You have so much to learn whoamitosay. lol. you dont understand. u see money runs everything and i dont care how many violations there are at a certain place. they will not push the issue if the company has money. unless ofcourse its a place like wal-mart or lowes or a big organization because then word would get out that osha is bs. How dangerous do you think water leaking onto a 440 volt circuit box from the 1970’s is. its darn dangerous but what did osha say. oh its ok as long as they show us evidence that they have gotten an estimate. it doesnt matter that water has been leaking for 2 years. just that they have evidence of an estimate for repairs. and as for the person asking how i know. i know everything.

yes chico they called in advance and told them that they were coming. it wouldnt have mattered anyway because when the guy came he only checked on two things. he did not do any inspection as you would think only he asked a couple of “select” employees who were told what to say a few questions about the things being adressed.

Former,
That sounds about right. I thought that was a standard OSHA inspection. If it were an in-depth investigation, they would have checked on 3 things :)

If you got booted as drover said it sounded like someone got booted. Maybe I can see why by the MTV comment. Sorry!
