John asked me to tell those of you who have spoken up on his behalf thanks.
This is what John told me. His words. He left the forum because his post was removed and the administrator denied doing it. he said this same person allowed the forum to be overran during the election and did little if anything to control it.
It had nothing to do with the false claims of spamming which were false. He said he added 4 new posts, 3 of which had their own topic. One was simplified because people do not always read a large letter and may not see the information about the possible salmonella contamination if children or the elderly could contract if they came in contact with the the cat food. This was a separate recall issued than the one in September and he felt it was urgent to get the word out as the cat food was sold at walmart in Virginia.

John asked to have his membership disabled. He did not ask and was not told all the posts would be removed. He is sorry to everyone for all the posts that a lot of people lost because of this. There were a great many posts removed that were not his. My posts may disappear now to I guess.

OK, I think we need to get an/the admin in on this discussion. One of 2 things appear to be happening here. Either, an/the administrator did, in fact, remove John’s posts or not. If the posts were removed by the admin, then maybe we could have confirmation of this. I don’t care about the details at this point. Just a simple answer to the simple question “Were user John’s posts removed by an/the administrator of these forums?“ A simple “yes” or “no” would more than suffice. But I have follow-up questions.

If the answer is “no,“ then where did they go? My first thought is that, possibly, if someone requests to have his or her account disabled, does that automatically remove his or her posts? It seems to me that that could create huge holes in the conversation and cause confusion to someone reading through the threads later. My second thought is that the administrator account for this forum has been compromised and the password needs to be changed immediately.

If the answer is “yes,“ then, was John told that they were not? Or, could John have possibly misinterpreted the reason for the removal? And, in the sense of fairness to both John and the forum administrator(s), could John be, shall we say, “not so accurate with the truth of the matter”?

As far as I know (take that with a grain of salt) this is the first time that posts have been removed from the forum. At least this is the first time I’ve ever seen it. I think that as contributors to the forum, we at least deserve an official explanation of what exactly went on. We’re all on a learning curve here, so it would be very beneficial to know what is acceptable and what is not. I realize that there is a public “Acceptable Use Policy” posted. I’m just wondering if that is open to interpretation for the admin(s) or if that policy was obviously violated by the user known as “John.“
