I’m curious if the forum software counts hits from bots towards a thread’s view count.  I know the forum software I use, phpBB, does not count bots.  Web-crawling bots would account for at least a couple-dozen views per-post, so it would be significant if they are included.

The bots are filtered out I believe.

This was about more than just “bots” wasn’t it?  Like maybe, one of the people posting had many more views than some of the others.  What happened to the posts from that person?

Since I asked the question, I’ll tell you exactly what it was about.  I spent a lot of time composing emails during the campaign, and I wanted to know how many people were reading what I said.  If only 10 or 15 people were seeing the posts, then it wouldn’t have been worth the effort.  The forum was reporting something like 40-50 views per post, and if that included bots, then only 20 or so views would have been real people.  That’s why I wanted to know, because if few people were reading, I wasn’t going to spend as much time writing.
