To hear a couple people at this forum talk, Obama has already won, and every republican is already crying like a whipped dog.  Rumor and innuendo is swirling on the internet, as opponents attempt to portray the Republican party as out of control and falling apart because they are trailing in polls.

The truth is that multiple polls are showing a decline in Obama’s lead.  According to the Ipsos-McClatchy poll, Obama is now only leading by a 6% margin, and his lead has been cut by half from last week.  Republicans are rallying, and this positive momentum in McCain’s favor one week before the election will be pivotal.  If the current trend continues then McCain will have overtaken Obama next week, perfectly in time for election day.

McCain cuts into Obama’s edge on jobs, economy, poll finds

The Arizona senator scored sharp gains on the pivotal issue of jobs and the economy in the past week, helping him gain a bit on front-runner Sen. Barack Obama and narrow the presidential race as it heads into the final week, according to an Ipsos-McClatchy Poll released Tuesday.
The poll found Obama’s margin over McCain on who’s stronger on jobs and the economy - by far the top issue in the country - down from 16 points to 7 points in one week.

Obama has lost points in specific categories as follows:
Jobs and the economy, lost 4%
Taxes, lost 3%
Healthcare, lost 8%
Family values, lost 1%
