Interesting concept> Dump McCain to save Senators “Faced with such a dire landscape, David Frum, a former speechwriter for President Bush and now a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, penned “In these last days before the vote, Republicans need to face some strategic realities. Our resources are limited, and our message is failing. We cannot fight on all fronts. We are cannibalizing races that we must win and probably can win in order to help a national campaign that is almost certainly lost. In these final 10 days, our goal should be: senators first.“
Frum’s argument is a simple one. With the White House looking increasingly hard to hold and Democrats headed to a 250-seat (or more) House majority, the lone achievable goal for Republicans is to keep Democrats from a filibuster-proof 60 seat majority in the Senate.
“If we are reduced to just 40 or 41 senators, as could easily happen, Republicans and conservatives could find themselves powerless to stop anything—and more conservative Democrats would lose bargaining power with the Obama White House,“ writes Frum
