The newspaper said Sunday the Democrat ‘'brings far more promise to the office. In a time of grave economic crisis, he displays thoughtful analysis, enlists wise counsel and operates with a cool, steady hand.‘’

‘'Of the two candidates, Sen. Obama better understands the mortgage meltdown’s root causes and has the judgment and intelligence to shape a solution, as well as the leadership to rally the country behind it,‘’ the paper said.

“Sen. McCain describes himself as a maverick, by which he seems to mean that he spent 25 years trying unsuccessfully to persuade his own party to follow his bipartisan, centrist lead. Sadly, maverick John McCain didn’t show up for the campaign. Instead we have candidate McCain, who embraces the extreme Republican orthodoxy he once resisted and cynically asks Americans to buy for another four years.“

Have to tell you that we have dealings with Alaska here in BC and Sarah Palin is very well respected here. Your Democratric news media has sure spent a lot of time throwing rocks at her and it has pretty well been one sided. I have found your news outlets very prejudice in the USA - CNN = Obamba and Fox = McCain ... they are the best advertising a news media could have ... All I can say is that if you knew Sarah Palin as we do here you would stop listening to the negative propoganda - did she make mistakes at the start? Sure, but go back to when Obama first showed up and so did he ... At least she never promised one thing and then went back on her word ... I wonder if that newspaper is owned by one of the oil companies she angered? I wonder if maybe its owned by a Democratic supporter? I don’t think any news outlet has the right to come out in support of one or the other running mate in an election. I think people should be able to decide for themselves as individuals .... wasn’t it one of those papers who said there was a Santa Clause? ... great Christmas story but not true so its all about the news?  How is anything reported as a story when clearly there are two sides and only one is being supported? Many of us in British Columbia cannot believe the hysteria train a lot of Americans are on.  They are basing their vote on feelings instead of what they have actually found out and that is a dangerous way to pick a candidate.
