We must look beyond appearances, and not gamble with the grim fact that
McCain, a Presidential nominee of seventy two years old with a history of
cancer, has a running mate with only twenty months experience as Govenor.
Only a heart beat away from the Presidency, and only four months ago,
learned the responsibilities of a Vice President. Can the United States
afford a learning curve when the safety of our citizens and soldiers lives
are involved? Palin tells us the Iraq War is “God’s Task”. This radical
statement is offensive. War is not God’s plan. War is Man-Made. I wonder,
could Palin handle the realities of our ecomony? As Mayor, Wasilla took on
an additional $23.7-million in long-term debt. She requested almost $750
million in special federal spending, the largest per-capita request in the
nation. One way she cut costs was by charging rape victims between $300 and
$1200 for their own rape kits. Women portray her as “one of us” yet she is
already embroiled in scandel; under a serious ethics investigation for abuse
of power. Palin has been called “an everyday, working-class American” yet her net worth is
over $1.2 million dollars. We must not gloss over Palin’s record, nor buy
into the glamour of this opaque Vice-Presidential nominee.  Ramesh Ponnuru
from the Conservative National Review calls Palin “a reckless choice.“ Palin
herself is a “bridge to nowhere”, like her $398 million bridge project she
opposed only after national ridicule.  I call into question McCain’s
judgement for toying with America,  saying this inexperienced politician is
exactly what Americans need.
